Supervisor


About the Role

Working in our Horticultural team you will take a leadership role supporting our ground teams to maintain and manage a high level of presentation for our public spaces.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager you will be first point of call for our field-based team for any of the day-to-day issues that might arise. You will be out and about, engaging with the teams throughout the day, dropping off equipment, undertaking site audits, assisting with training, providing an extra set of hands when required and keeping appropriate reporting and communications up to date to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible. This is a hands-on role supporting the overall team but with a key focus on quality, auditing, training, and mentoring of the teams.

Ventia has strong systems, processes, and policies in place to guide you through your day. You will be supported directly by the operations team and other supervisors.

What you will be doing

  • Leading from the front and sharing your knowledge.
  • Daily contact with small teams across multiple sites.
  • Mentoring and coaching staff on the job.
  • Leading best practice (safety, quality and productivity)
  • Inspecting and maintaining our standard of work through auditing and site checks.
  • Supervising in a hands-on environment.
  • Keeping reporting and communication up to date and completed as required.

About You

  • Experience in horticulture or vegetation maintenance and weed control.
  • Previous experience leading teams of 2 – 20 staff.
  • Familiar with running daily jobs through pre-set schedules of work.
  • Take pride in seeing a job done well.
  • Enjoy supporting others to realise their potential.
  • Have a full NZ drivers’ licence (manual).
  • Leadership and communication skills.
  • Good organisation and time management.
  • Practical problem solving skills.
