Quantity Surveyor


The Role

We’re looking for a seasoned Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Christchurch. 
In this estimating role, you’ll thrive on the challenge, energy and drive of the work-winning environment. This role offers the opportunity to price a wide variety of projects across New Zealand, working with a very experienced pre-contracts team in a large infrastructure services company with a strong reputation in New Zealand and Australia. 
 
Estimating at Ventia is a shared service which supports all areas of our Power and Electrical business and contributes to a large range of bids and tenders. Reporting to the Operations Manager in Christchurch, the role requires the versatility to both solo estimate projects and to work as part of a team for larger jobs. 
It would be advantageous if you have had previous exposure to the following sectors within which we operate:
 
•    Distribution
•    Transmission
•    Industrial
•    Generation
  
About you

•    A trade based Electrical qualification OR a tertiary qualification either a Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying
•    A minimum of 5 years experience in high voltage substation (above 33Kv) is essential 
•    Strong and clear communication skills with the ability to work with and through all organisational levels
•    Be strong in pricing and measuring 
•    Attention to detail with a thorough approach 
•    Develop and maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and external consultants 
•    Have a good understanding of procurement and managing subcontractor / supplier agreements 
•    Spearhead the preparation and management of tender submissions to secure coveted contracts 
•    Working with our high-quality clients (Orion, Meridian Energy, Manawa Energy, Genesis Energy, Contact Energy        and LightsourceBP) with the security of long term work 
•    Working within a positive company culture that places a significant focus on staff wellbeing
