The Venue

Award winning, Azabu has long been a mainstay in the Ponsonby dining scene and now with a beachside location in Mission Bay. The menu combines Nikkei-influenced dishes and modern Japanese with an emphasis on the fun and the interesting. Azabu is situated on the beach of Mission Bay with stunning views of Rangitoto Island.

The Opportunity

  
We are searching for a passionate Head Chef for our Mission Bay venue. Ideally, you will have 2-3 years experience in a high volume venue, experience in managing large and high-performing teams, a fantastic attitude, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.  You will ideally have experience in Japanese, and/or Asian Fusion cuisine.  

In this role you will be responsible for: 

  • Performance, engagement, and capabilities of chefs in your venues and sites
  • Financial management associated with the operation of the kitchen 
  • Working directly with the Group Executive Chef and Managing Director for regular menu development 
  • Creative direction of the menu in conjunction with the Group Executive Chef and Managing Director 
  • Effective stock management including but not limited to; ordering, storage, rotation and waste control 
  • Effective people practices such as performance, culture, engagement and recruitment 
  • Meeting the highest standards of quality and consistency in all food offerings 
  • Legal compliance and ensuring adherence to health and safety and food control
