Employment Relations Specialist


What You'll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga

Step into this newly created role within our People and Performance team, where you will take a leading role in influencing and managing Employment Relations across the AA. Working closely with the team and broader business you'll manage complex ER cases from start to finish, providing expert advice and ensuring compliance with organisational frameworks and policies. You will also focus on coaching and guiding our leaders on effectively managing ER issues and upholding best practices.

  • Provide timely and accurate advice and guidance to people leaders and employees on employment relations issues.
  • Assist in the resolution of employment disputes and grievances through effective mediation and negotiation.
  • Lead the preparation, review, and negotiation of employment agreements, ensuring compliance and alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Support the organisation in collective bargaining processes, including negotiation of collective agreements and variations.
  • Develop and deliver training and workshops for people leaders on employment relations topics.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

About You | Mōu

You'll have proven experience in an ER advisory role, ideally within a unionised environment and enjoy the varied day to day responsibilities that this role offers. Your strength lies in effective communication with all stakeholders, where you enjoy enhancing their capabilities to achieve effective outcomes.

  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Effective time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to multitask, juggle competing priorities, and manage work to closure
  • Solid decision making through application of knowledge, experience and good judgement
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment law
