About The Role
The Senior Manager, Operational Risk & Compliance, is part of the leadership group of ANZ NZ’s Wealth & Private Bank Risk team.  The team is collectively responsible for managing operational risk and compliance throughout the Wealth & Private Bank business, with particular focus on investment funds and KiwiSaver product and advice, investment management, technology, conduct and culture. 
 
In this role, you will:

  • Be accountable for managing a portfolio of operational risks in a complex and heavily regulated business environment.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders on all relevant operational, compliance and conduct risk related matters, including key risks, projects, initiatives and change processes. 
  • Coordinate with all relevant business teams (including outside Wealth & Private Bank) to manage and evidence sound risk management practices, including compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Advise Wealth & Private Bank management on conduct risk mitigation and remediation activities; instil an innovative approach to conduct risk management.
  • Manage reporting on operational, compliance and conduct risk matters to the Wealth & Private Bank business, ANZ NZ divisional forums and Boards.
  • Adapt to and lead the team through ongoing changes in the regulatory and broader business environment.
  • Lead by example; display and encourage behaviours essential to the delivery of a strong risk culture.

About You
This is a key appointment to the Wealth & Private Bank Risk team.  The business environment is heavily regulated and closely governed.  Strong leadership and the ability to provide high levels of assurance on the control and compliance environment is an essential part of the role.
 
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Extensive operational risk or equivalent experience in a regulated Funds or Investment Management environment, including experience of FMCA-licensed products and services.
  • Team management and leadership experience; the ability and desire to mentor peers and wider team members.
  • Confident senior stakeholder engagement; excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
  • A growth mindset: the ability to anticipate and plan for change; take a long term view of business needs for operational risk management; strive for continuous improvement and better outcomes.
