Key functions
Auckland Transport is responsible for the day-to-day activities that keep Auckland's transport systems moving. These include planning and funding of public transport, promoting alternative ways to get around and operating the local roading network.
Among our main tasks are:
- to design, build and maintain Auckland's roads, ferry wharves, cycleways and walkways.
- to co-ordinate road safety and community transport initiatives such as school travel.
- plan and fund bus, train and ferry services across Auckland.
